As you move into your senior year, you’ll begin to meet with the ADUS for Seniors. Like the ADUS-F/S and ADUS-J, the ADUS-S is a PhD candidate in East Asian Languages and Civilizations who is familiar with the department and its faculty. The primary role of the ADUS-S is to serve as academic advisor for all seniors in the department, and to organize and run the senior thesis-writing program: EAS 99. You will meet with the ADUS-S to discuss your plan of study and course selections before the start of each semester of senior year. At these meetings, the ADUS-S will help ensure you are on track to fulfill the graduation requirements of both the College and the EAS concentration. The ADUS-S will be able to answer any remaining questions you have about requirements, and will be available to meet with you for additional advising throughout each semester as needed.

If you are a sole or joint EAS concentrator writing a thesis, you will regularly meet with the ADUS-S throughout your senior year in the thesis writing program. During the fall semester, the Director of Undergraduate Studies and ADUS-S will curate a series of EAS 99 writing workshops for thesis writers. These sessions will provide a chance to discuss resources and strategies for thesis writing in EAS, as well as opportunities to share and receive feedback on chapter drafts from peers, thesis tutors, and tutorial staff. Throughout your senior year, the ADUS-S will regularly reach out to you and your assigned thesis tutor to share and follow up on deadlines, arrange thesis writing workshops, and coordinate the annual Senior Thesis Colloquium (held just before thesis submission deadlines in spring semester). As with general questions on degree progress and planning for the senior year, the ADUS-S is always willing to answer your questions about EAS thesis requirements.
